my approach

One of the challenges facing the medical industry today is the compartmentalisation of the human condition. In the medical industry, if you have a heart condition, chances are you will find your way to a heart specialist. If you have a skin problem, you go to a dermatologist.

The model used in modern medicine is to diagnose the symptoms of an illness and use a a problem solving approach in the treatment.

Very few medical specialists take into account your emotional state of being, your diet or other lifestyle factors in their diagnosis. Sure, they may glance at it but the focus of their attention will be on your condition and not you as a whole person. And in all fairness to our medical profession, a few doctors are embracing "wellness" as a mullti-discipline approach.

The fact of the matter is that wellness is a multidimensional state of being that includes all aspects of our being - physical, emotional and mental states.

You cannot achieve wellness by looking at only one aspect of your life.

That is why I practise a holistic approach to wellness that looks at all aspects of your being. I draw on my expertise in nutrition, herbs and various other therapeutic approaches including counselling, psychotherapy and coaching skills. It all depends on your situation. The aim is to formulate a path to wellness for you.

I call it "mind body medicine" and it includes a range of integrative techniques that help you understand and transform your health, relationships, career and spiritual state of being.

IIn the first few consultations we assess your lifestyle challenges and/or health concerns. Once we have a clear picture of your situation, together we create a plan that assists you in gaining knowledge about yourself in order to better operate in the world. This can sometimes be about a specific issue, or more generally about the whole of your life.

The end result is an individualized treatment plan that takes you to a new level of wellness and clarity in your life.
